New Instructor

Better Business: Roger Ison has a look at how accountability in the public and private sectors has changed over the last thirty years. In many ways, the old adage that ‘the customer is always right’ still holds, and you as Driving Instructors need to remember this when providing a value for money service to you pupils but, also, the state needs to respond appropriately to you concerns too. Better Training: Bill Lavender continues his series of articles on teaching plans with a look at ‘Crossroads’ this month.

Profile

When the going gets tough then the tough get going. But, when resources are stretched, and money seems short, it also often leads people to look at working together to make things work out. The ideas of cooperatives may seem like hippy ideals from a different era but, for three ADIs, it is very much the perfect solution to their problems and, as they see it, the industry’s. Jason Hardy believes he has the experience, drive and sense of community to pull it off with his new venture and achieve a fair and equitable solution to the woes of all involved.

Feature

Whilst it is professional instructors that are in the best position to provide new drivers with the expertise and skills thy need to be safe drivers for life, it is only as they increase their levels of on the road driving experience that they will really achieve this end. So, as most road safety specialists agree, private practice alongside professional lessons is the best way forward. But how can we be sure that the parents or supervising drivers are actually supporting and helping to reinforce the correct skills that we have given them? A new report takes a deeper look at the issue and how we can try and ensure a homogenous learning experience for pupils.
